There was a buzz in the air at the Sundial Theatre last Wednesday, as businesses from Cirencester gathered to hear about this year’s business awards.

This year will be the Cirencester Chamber of Commerce’s 9th business awards and the event will be held at The Kings Head, Corn Hall on the 10th May 2019 at 7pm.

A record number of tickets were sold in 2018 with over 220 people in attendance and a waiting list of 30 people. There were a record number of entries last year as well, this year the Chamber aim to match this success.

The president of the Chamber, Annemarie Thurgood, gave a presentation explaining that the committee and herself are planning some exciting new additions this year, including two new awards: Apprentice of the Year and Business of the Year.

Annemarie thanked everyone that supported last year’s event including the sponsors, entrants and attendees, she also acknowledged that without them the awards would never happen.

Annemarie was pleased to inform the audience that over 70% of category sponsorship had already been sold, by the end of the evening there were only two categories left to sponsor. There are still however a number of event and table sponsorship packages available.

The members also heard from David Fowles about the money raised from last year’s auction, which was put towards the human poppy. A sponsor from last year’s awards, Russell Jones-Walker of Lumley Insurance and award winner Emily Hepworth of Persephone Violet also gave presentations, detailing some of the many benefits of being involved with the event.

To make the awards truly successful and creditable the Chamber urges businesses to celebrate their successes and enter this year.

Entries are now open on the Chamber website www.cirencesterchamber.org.uk. Whether you are a one-man band or large corporate enterprise the awards are open to all. The awards are free to enter if you are a member and only £10 if you are a not (for non members their businesses need to be located within the GL7 area).

The judging will once again be carried out by independent judges based outside of the local area.

The Chamber looks forward to receiving your entries. If you have any questions or would like to find out about sponsorship or tickets then please contact the Chamber Secretary who will be happy to help info@cirencesterchamber.org.uk
