Cirencester Youth Market Launched for 2018

Calling all young entrepreneurs in the District!

The successful Cirencester Youth Market will be returning to Cirencester Market Place for its third year on Wednesday 14 March 2018 from 10.30am to 2.30pm. The event is organised by Cirencester Town Council and the E4 Group, which aims to inspire and support the enterprising young people within Cirencester and is made up of the Royal Agricultural University, Cirencester College, Deer Park School and Kingshill School.

The Youth Market will showcase the town’s young budding entrepreneurs and provide a fun filled day with live performances and the opportunity to discover what exciting initiatives our younger generation are exploring and working on.

As the Market goes from strength to strength, attracting regional and national media attention, the group are keen to widen the net and attract local entrepreneurs to join this year’s event. This Market provides a wonderful platform to either test business ideas or to sharpen sales and merchandising techniques. The Cotswold District has some incredibly motivated and talented young enterprises, so if you are under 30, from the Cotswold District and within a 15 mile radius, applications for stalls are now open.

The aim of the Market is to inspire young people to set up their own business, giving local enterprise students and young entrepreneurs the opportunity to sell their products, which they themselves have made and designed. Some of the businesses will be asking customers for feedback on their products to aid development, so come along and see what great innovations our town’s youth are working on!

The Market annually runs an awards scheme and last year Daniella Keen from Eternity Engraving picked up the award for Best Sustainable Business.

“I would recommend anyone that is under the age of 30 and has a small business in Cirencester, to book a stall. I found it to be very beneficial for my company because you have a strong presence in the town with your stand being in the centre of the Market Place, lots of passers-by have a browse; which is great for networking and to have the support from your local community. You can speak and engage with like-minded business people on the other trade stands and you just may be in the right place, at the right time to make some sales. For me as a young entrepreneur starting out, it was one of the proudest moments I’ve had leading up to that time. I learnt a lot during the day and all in all it was a successful day.” Eternity Engraving now have a weekly pitch at the Cirencester Charter Market and has gone on to win the 2017 Cirencester Chamber of Commerce Young Business Enterprise Award.

The Royal Agricultural University will be featuring some of their up-and-coming enterprises along with Cirencester College; Deer Park will be featuring some innovative creations and a fundraising stall for their Ghana project plus live performances.

The group are keen to reach out to all young entrepreneurs and organisations supporting youth in the town to come along and get involved, if you would like to host a stall or perform please contact Suzie Lew at the Town Council. If your application is successful, stall hire for the event will be kindly sponsored by the Royal Agricultural Society and will include your own covered stall with table top.
