This month’s speakers are

Bathurst Friendship by Earl Bathurst & Cllr Mark Harris

‘A Friendship Initiative between Cirencester and the City of Bathurst in Australia.
Cllr Mark Harris and Lord Bathurst will explain the friendship initiative between our two regional capitals and answer questions about how you can be involved and how our community can benefit. Importantly they are not after your money!

Cotswold Leader Grants by James Webb

James from The Cotswolds LEADER Programme will give us some updates about CLP and how they will operate for another two years, like other RDPE programmes, until the end of March 2019. All LEADER areas share the same objective of creating jobs and growth and stimulating the rural economy. There are six investment themes covering micro & small business, rural tourism, farm productivity, forest productivity, culture & heritage and rural services. To date, the Cotswolds LEADER Programme has approved nine grants with a total value exceeding £254,000 towards capital investments supporting a wide range of rural businesses. In order to support the business community better, the maximum grant level for Priority micro & small business and farm diversification has been increased to £100,000. Previously, the maximum level was £50,000. This increase will allow us to consider larger projects that create high job outputs.

Adam Baggs Cirencester Round Table Cycle

Five members of Cirencester Round Table are cycling from Cirencester to Land End to raise funds for Gloucester Young Carers.  None of us are expert / regular cyclist, we are just a bunch of friends trying to do a little something extra for charity.  Each year CRT raises in the region of £25k through activities such as Santa Sleigh and the towns major fireworks display.  All monies raised go back into local and community projects.

As mentioned we are not keen cyclists, we only came up with the idea in May so the whole process has proved quite challenging as the overall route is 250 miles with some 14,000 feet of climbing.

We will be setting off from Cirencester market place at 0730 on Thursday 21st.  Our aim is to achieve 95 miles on the first day followed by 85 and 75. We would be delighted if you would join us for our departure.
