President

On leaving school, Les went into the corporate environment, holding various senior management positions, working for multi-national retailers throughout the UK and Europe.

Nowadays he runs Prints & Threads in Cirencester providing corporate branding through garment printing and embroidery.

Les loves canals and boating to unwind and relax, plus evenings out wining, dining and listening to music.

 

Claire Wardell

Secretary

Claire became Secretary in May 2015. Claire is passionate about Cirencester and is involved with other groups with in the town, such as The Phoenix Festival and Cirencester Community Development Trust. Claire has also just been appointed Local Town Councillor for The New Mills Ward.   A mother of four and grandma of one. In Claire’s spare time she enjoys getting involved in local events and thoroughly enjoys live music.

 

David Fowles

Vice-President

David Fowles runs a marketing and publishing company called Cotswold Media specialising in promoting property, leisure, tourism and independent retail businesses in the Cotswolds. David is also a Cotswold District Councillor and Vice President of the Cirencester Chamber of Commerce. As a trustee of the CCDT, David is responsible for looking after the Culture, Heritage and Tourism group reporting into the main board

As one of the directors of Athena Web Designs, I work with many Cirencester businesses and organisations.

We have found that regularly attending networking events has helped us build good relationships with local businesses.

We encourage all of our clients to network and hope that being part of the committee we can help other businesses make great connections.

Ian Sumbler

Treasurer

Ian joined Morris Owen in 1984, qualified with the ACCA in 1991 and became a partner in 1999. He is responsible for the audit department having spent many years as audit manager. He has also been involved in the firm’s IT development and has responsibility for the various computer functions in the office and equally provides guidance to clients.

More recently he has been a prominent speaker on Data Protection and Disaster Recovery topics within the professional market sector. Ian works with a wide range of business clients predominantly throughout Cirencester and the Cotswolds and joined the Cirencester Chamber of Commerce Committee in July 2013.

Jan Sparrow Vuolo

Jan Sparrow moved here from Hertfordshire in the eighties. Director of Cotswold Sparrow Publishing Ltd, publisher of Cirencester Scene Magazine. Loves meeting and connecting people to people, business to business. Art School graduate and freelance illustrator: ‘Portraits of People and Pets’. Country girl, dog walker and trainee beekeeper.

Athena Web Designs was established in 2011 by Annemarie Thurgood and myself. We offer a range of online and print marketing solutions from our shop in the centre of Cirencester. Since becoming a member of the Chamber we have made some fantastic contacts as well as gained many business opportunities. We are involved with the development of the Chamber website and hope to continue to help them to evolve their online identity.

Hilary Norris-Evans

Hilary is based in CIRENCESTER where she practises Hypnotherapy, Mindfulness, NLP, Hypnohealing, Easibirthing and Stress Management. She trains new hypnotherapists in Bath and works in Bath at The Practice Rooms and Cirencester. These locations are convenient for you if you live or work in North and West Wiltshire, South Gloucestershire and the towns of Swindon, Stroud , Fairford , Bath , Bristol and Cheltenham

Mark Tawn

Mark Tawn has been a solicitor since 1994 and a member of the Law Society’s Personal Injury Panel since 1999. Mark has lived in Cirencester for 16 years and works for Davey Law Solicitors in Dollar Street

Away from the office Mark enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, good food and drink and great company.

Howard Smith

Howard has lived in Cirencester for over 5 years and setup his accounts & business consulting practice the numbercruncher over 3 years ago where he specialises in paperless accounts cloud technology for small businesses using Xero and Receiptbank. He enjoys the chamber social & networking events with like-minded people & it seemed natural for him to become more involved. In his spare time, youll find him down his allotment on Purley Road

Howard Burr

Howard runs 2 Companies based in Love Lane. South Western specialised tape ltd and Cotswold Labels ltd. Both businesses have many local customers and he is keen to keep business as local as possible. He has a passion for business in Cirencester and wants to engage the more industrial elements of the towns economy with the Chamber to push forward Cirencester as a great place to work and start a business

Paul Brown

Paul and his wife Paula (yes, we know!) moved to Cirencester 25 years ago and have seen their children born, growing up through the local schools and college and being actively involved in a range of local clubs and societies.

With a business background in the wine trade, including several years with their own business based in Cirencester town centre, Paul understands the pressures of running both a local and national business. Getting off the daily commuter grind of the London train in 2016 Paul joined the Royal Agricultural University as the Commercial Sales Manager at an exciting point in the development of the University business programme.
